Paint removal is inherent to the process
Wet sanding and compounding remove a measurable amount of clear coat (typically 0.5–3+ microns per step, depending on grit, technique, and paint condition). This thins the clear coat to level the surface. While we use precision tools, gauges (where applicable), and controlled techniques to minimize unnecessary removal, some clear coat is permanently removed. Vehicles with already thin, compromised, or poorly applied clear coat (common on older vehicles, certain brands, or repainted panels) carry higher risk.
Not all imperfections can be 100% removed
Very deep scratches (those that catch a fingernail), etchings from bird droppings/chemicals, clear coat failure, delamination, or embedded contaminants may only be reduced—not fully eliminated—without risking further damage or breakthrough to base coat/primer. We will not pursue perfection at the expense of paint integrity.
Results vary based on paint condition
Final gloss, depth, and clarity depend on the original paint quality, thickness, age, previous detailing/paintwork, and environmental factors. We perform a thorough pre-inspection and test spot(s) when needed, but outcomes are not guaranteed to match another vehicle or ideal showroom condition.
Potential risks and pre-existing conditions
We are not responsible for pre-existing issues that become more visible or worsen after correction (e.g., hidden clear coat cracks, delamination, thin spots, holograms from prior improper polishing, rock chips, or paint defects). If breakthrough to color coat or primer occurs due to insufficient clear coat thickness, we will stop work on that panel/area and discuss options—no further correction will be performed without your explicit approval and assumption of risk.
No warranty on paint longevity post-service
This service does not repair or restore failing clear coat. Post-correction durability depends on proper maintenance and protection. We are not liable for future paint issues unrelated to our workmanship.
Liability limitation
While we take every precaution using professional-grade tools, pads, compounds, and techniques, auto detailing carries inherent risks. We are not liable for any unintended cosmetic or mechanical issues that may arise during or after the service, except where proven to result directly from gross negligence on our part.
By booking this service, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these risks, accept them, and agree that Top Guard USA is not responsible for pre-existing conditions or results limited by the vehicle's original paint condition.
We’re happy to answer questions or perform a pre-service inspection to assess your paint and discuss realistic expectations!
